Exercise Ball - Used to Strengthen Abs
The exercise ball is a great tool for strengthening the abs, but it also helps you reach those hard-to-get-to muscles as well as improving your balance and overall coordination.
The numerous applications of the exercise ball follow a range of difficulty levels, and the benefits for back pain can be felt at each level. From merely sitting on the exercise ball to doing structured aerobic exercise routines, the basic support needed by the back and stomach muscles are the same.
For a person with low back pain, the exercise ball can be used for a variety of purposes. Some of the reasons the exercise ball is used are to learn proper posture, increase lumbar (low back) mobility, increase abdominal and back muscle strength, increase balance and stability as well as develop overall control and strength of the core body muscles.
Even limited exercise helps overweight women: study
By Maggie Fox, Health and Science EditorWASHINGTON (Reuters) - Just 10 minutes of exercise a day can help even the most inactive overweight women, U.S. researchers reported on Tuesday.
Tests on overweight and obese women, many of whom had high blood pressure, showed that even small amounts of exercise improved their fitness and toned them up enough to lower their overall risk of early death.
The study is the first to reinforce using hard medical data what other studies have suggested -- that exercise does not have to be an all-or-nothing venture, Dr. Timothy Church of Louisiana State University and colleagues said.

Top 5 Exercise "Hacks"
Was trolling around the web the other day and found a great article on zenhabits.net about 42 "exercise hacks". It is worth a read for sure.
Here is a list of my favorite 5 hacks from the list:
Start slow. The biggest mistake that people make when starting an exercise plan is starting too fast or too hard.Forget about weight loss. Yeah, many of us would like to lose some weight. But if you’re motivated solely by weight loss, exercise will be a tough proposition. The reason is that you might not lose weight right away. Oh, it’ll come, if you can keep it up over time, but in the beginning you might be disappointed (especially if you haven’t changed your eating habits). Just get into the habit of exercise, and worry about the weight later. First things first.
The `running` web links thread
Hey everyone -
If anyone has any websites to share, please respond to this thread and post your favorite running sites.
I'll start things off with wicked little app that lets you share running routes:
Jules from Bikely stopped by to let me know that they have created a new site for running, walking and hiking called Stepwhere.
Your turn!
