South Beach Diet All-American Breakfast Wraps
Has anyone tried these?
This morning, I got up and almost automatically went to my blender to make a fruit, yogurt & whey protein smoothie, and then realized it sounded completely unappetizing. I didn't have time to cook anything, so I decided to stop by the store on my way to work. And there they were. SBD All-American Breakfast Wraps, with egg whites, reduced fat cheese and turkey bacon in a whole wheat wrap. They come in a pack of 2, at 230 calories and 19 grams protein each. I'd had the SBD pizzas before and they weren't too bad--good in a pinch. So, I grab the wraps, proud of myself for making a reasonably healthy choice.
Got to work and heated them up according to the microwave directions. The first thing I noticed was the tortillas. They had a very strong "health food" odor (don't know how else to describe it), and they were sticky. Then I started eating them. Long story short--extremely soft eggs, cheese that was more like a "cheese" sauce, very minimal bacon flavor, and the tortillas? BLAACH!!! Or, in three words: soggy, bland and nasty. Somehow I got through one whole wrap and almost half of the second. Mostly because I'm stuck at work until lunchtime and don't have the cash to even get one of the crappy vending machine burritos (and I would have done it rather than continue eating those wraps), and I knew I had to eat something, so there it is. Fortunately I had also brought some blueberries from home with me and was able to eat those to get some of the wrap taste out of my mouth.
So, if you haven't tried them--consider yourself very very lucky.
