I went from not caring at all what I look like, to Kind of caring, and doing slightly better, but it wasn't enough.
Now I am serious. I quit eating White Death (Bleached Process Flour, and Sugar,) in almost all ways I could. I ditched Soda, candy, and almost all deserts. I exercise regularly, and hope to have a pleasing body by next summer.
Considering Summer is just ending, my goal is quite realistic

That is a great way to get started because when it comes to calories most people make odd decisions. For instance piling on salad dressing when the purpose was to have a light healthy meal, butter is another great example of something people use to their detriment. Stick with Gimme20 and use the community to help you reach those goals.
