Request: Fix Workout History Graphs (multiple y-axes)
Hey guys, great job so far.
So when I look at my workout history graphs, I have noticed that they really aren't useful.
It seems to me that the problem is that the weight of an exercise shares the same y-axis as its sets and reps.
This means that if I bench, say, 150 pounds, with 10 reps and 3 sets, that any variation in reps or sets from day-to-day will be impossible to see on the graph.
While for most people (myself included) reps and sets will remain largely fixed, I see two simple solutions to the problem:
- Create three side-by-side graphs (weight, reps, sets) of a width 1/3 of the current workout history graph. Data won't be overlaid as it is, so coordinating changes in each workout variable to each other will be slightly more difficult, but each variable will have its own independent y-axis, making each one easy to examine.
- Add a second y-axis to the existing workout history graph. Use one axis for weight and the second axis for reps/sets. It isn't a guarantee, but reps and sets will usually be bounded to a small (<25) number, while weight can go to incredibly large (>300) values. This way data is still overlaid as it is now.
I will say that I prefer solution number 2, but I am not familiar with the graphing package that you are using, and whether or not that is possible.
Keep up the great work!
EDIT: Tried to elucidate some of my ramblings :-)

Some re-designing
The great news is, lots of the reporting functionality / charts is being redone for an upcoming release of Gimme20.com.
I personally like your suggestions for #2, and I'll try to incorporate that into the next release.
Kind Regards,
