Accidental rest day…

Boy, I sure do miss it today. I woke with full intention of getting a good workout in. I needed it to recover from yesterdays racquet ball game (in which I beat a baseball player 10 years my junior, hooray for me ;).

Anyhow when I got to the gym I noticed that I’d forgotten to put a pair of shorts in the bag for this morning, whoops! Guess I’ll have to work out twice tomorrow... haha.

Guess I’ll have to settle for a couple of miles walking during lunch and once around the lake with the dog this evening. He’ll be happy though. He’s really enjoying my newfound fitness kick as he gets much more exercise than he has in the past.

Hey. That alright if you missed a day. Everyone misses a day now and then. You seem to be in the right frame of mind that missing a day wont hurt because you will get right back on track. Keep up the good work.

for the best

I think missing the lifting session yesterday was for the best. My right quad was kind of twitchie all day and I suppose it's good to thoroughly rest it once and a while as I've been hitting it pretty hard (besides, now I'm rested for todays game ;-).

By the time I got home from work my legs were screaming for activity though (from sitting at a desk all day), even though I got out at least 3 times and walked a mile each time and climbed to 13th floor and back down once too. Someone told me once that as one gets older the body will start to demand exercise, demand it! (he actually said demand about 4 times but I've shortened the quote for web consumption ;), and I finally understand what he was talking about. So I strapped on the Rollerblades and ventured out into yesterdays unseasonably hot/humid May day, hooked up the husky and rolled around the lake once (~3 miles).

The heat really did a number on us. My dog stopped pulling at about a mile and would do nothing but run along beside me for the rest of the way (so I got a better work out than usual ;) and he insisted on stopping for a drink more than usual too.

All in all, another good day.

:)

I know what you mean about dogs loving the exercise... I just moved back in with my parents for the summer. I'm helping them get ready to move and working in the US for a while. My German Shepard/Lab lives with them. But yeah, my dog is outta shape. I took him for a walk around a lake yesterday. He was so tired but he was a good sport about it and kept up.
