Week 2, Day 1 - Might need to cancel

So I did 25 minutes on the elliptical trainer last night, and now I feel way worse. I think I'll have to cancel my workouts for the rest of the week. Not feeling very good about that, but then I'm not feeling good at all.

Take it easy, there is nothing wrong with taking some time off. :)

Hey, if you aren't feeling well, it is better not to push it. Just take it easy, and drink lots of fluids. See how you are feeling in the next day or so, and when you feel up to it you can continue. Hope you are feeling better soon.

thanks

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm worrying about this a bit because it the past I would have taken too much time off an used it as an excuse not to go for weeks at at time.

I know how you feel

I definitely know how you feel. I know that after you dont workout for a while it is hard to get back into the swing of things. Just keep a positive attitude, and take care of yourself, and you will be back out there in no time. What I usually do is if I am not really feeling like working out again, I look back at what I have done over the past few months. I see how far I have come, and where I have come from. I never want to go back to being that old self, and I am finding that this site is definitely helping me keep at my goals. I know you are going to do just fine. Keep your head up. We are all here for you.

Usually if my muscles are tired or feel "funny," I give my body a day's rest. Loading up on fluids and healthy foods (like veggies which have a lot of water in them) usually help out. The day after rest, I'll give my exercise a try paying careful attention to how my body feels. Usually that's all it takes and it prevents me from creating excuses. Other times... it's too soon to go back to exercising and I just know it. It all depends on you.

Also, if you're having problems getting yourself to exercise, try setting the timer for 10 minutes. If you're really not up for exercising, than you'll want to stop after the 10 minutes and at least you got that much done. If you're just creating excuses, after the 10 minutes pass, I find it's so much easier to continue... sometimes even go beyond my goals.
