I had to vote "I would if I didn't live so far away" because I'm currently commuting 35 miles each way. Up until three months ago I had a 4 mile uphill ride, inland from the beach to the office. I can't wait to move and get back to the old steez. I miss it *snif.

Rain, Rain Go Away

I commute some days although this year I might go for an AM ride before work, then hit the gym for some weight training after work. The added advantage is that I can walk into the office looking polished and not like I dressed from a messenger bag.

Dressing from messenger bags isn't fun. Wiping off with paper towels in a bathroom is no fun too :).

I cycle commute here in phoenix (dante's inferno) 3-4 times a week to a job I need to look polished at (dress pants and shirt). To get around the obvious problems I ride in the 7-10 miles or so and stop at a nearby gym (we have a great lifetime fitness about a block from work). I am plenty warmed up at that point so I finish a workout and hit the showers. I throw on my dress pants and undershirt and finish the 20 second ride to work where I keep a handful of pressed shirts in a locker.

Only a couple annoyances I've run into lately, one being a rash of blown tires. I've taken to carrying two spare tubes at all times. The other annoyance is the drivers here. I'm out minding my own business (in the bike lane and NOT effecting traffic at all) but people driving decide they need to mess with me. I've been shot with a BB air rifle, hit with a few tossable items (and at least one soft drink), shouted at and honked at in attempts to scare me off balance or something. I actually stopped riding my road bike altogether and started taking a new route to work on my hybrid cycle (slightly fatter cruising tires) that takes me along nothing but canal and golf courses and lakes etc. It's a longer route by at least 2 miles but I don't have to deal with all the hotheads while sucking tailpipe. The downside of course, is the rash of blown tires I just talked about :).

Easy 4 me to commute

I get paid to shower at work. Filthy conditions. Plus I wear work uniform, so walking in dressed like a bike messenger is no big deal.

How Often Do You Commute By Bicycle To Work?

I was a bike messenger (ten years) so commuting to work and looking like a courier was the best thing. Now I have a bike shop in my garaj so commuting involves walking out my back door and across the yard. I now take an hour out of my work day to ride 20 km along lake Ontario.
