Useful Software for Running

Hi,

in the blog section of this group people posted links concerning websites related to your running experience. I dislike those sites and all the others I have seen so far, as they share all some heavy drawbacks, namely
*no syncing with your PC/PDA/Mobile; you enter your data and then loose control. Some of these sites probably won't be around in a year's time and you will have no backup ...
*US centric; the odd-man-out syndrome. ;) Outside Northern America, hardly anybody does run miles or measures Fahrenheit, so for the majority of the runners on the internet, these rather exclusive sites are useless. Poor localisation indicates poor product.
Hence, I use the old-fashioned piece of software for tracking my running. My favourite is _RunPlan_. http://www.marathonpeople.de/en/home.html
It tracks all the relevant data, is portable and platform-ignorant by virtue of running on a palm, and allows .csv export for further analysis with programms such as Excel.
On MacOS X, there is software called _Trailrunner_, which looks excellent, but requires the use of a gps tracking device.
What are your recommendations?

So, I know this post was from a year ago but I have been looking for something to track our progress as well. My wife and I are both cyclists as well and are just beginning into running. We use a site called Bike Jounral to trace our rides and it is great because it gives us:

  • Time
  • Distance
  • Type of course
  • Total Miles to Date (by month and year and all time)
  • A nice calender view
  • etc..

I would love to find a site that did this exact thing for running. While we are just doing it for fitness and will probably only do casual running, it is nice to see how you are progressing.

    I would love your feedback!

    ...be bold
