first post- week 0
I'm not so sure what to do with this yet.
I want to start running again soon, like four or five days a week. I am afraid to run by myself with my new music player at night in my neighborhood, and I don't think I can wake up early enough to run because I can't fall asleap early enough to be awake.
I was thinking I might be able to make a deal with someone with a dog to run with. Maybe I could make some money ($5? $10? each time), have a dog to protect me (or feel like it is), and have a schedule where I have to walk or run at a certian time each evening/night.
I also need to get good music ready on the mp3 player. It can only hold about 200 songs, and I would like to have the first 30 minutes of songs set so I can have a warm up routine and see just how many songs past the 30 minutes I can go.
I also need to figure out a good way to carry water. Pete has some "camel backs" that I could possibly use, but I don't know if it will bother me or not. Maybe I should have a sports drink instead. Caffienated? We'll see.
That's it for now. This could be a really cool thing. I have so many blogs. I need to store and then delete them all one day.

A few ideas
I know what you mean about running/walking alone at night - it's how I get home from where I'm at most of the time. If you can change up your times it makes you unpredictable especially if you change up your route slightly. If you live with someone, let them know you're going out for a run. If you can, have a cell phone handy just in case. It may make you feel better. Some basic self defense classes could also be helpful. There are also other devices such as horns, whistles, sprays etc... that could be helpful.
If you can't borrow a dog, why not adopt one from a local animal shelter if you can support one? Dogs tend to get especially protective about people they know and love. You could then go on your schedule.
music
As for music, you can find scores of music available for free on the web (usually in the form of podcasts).
Check out Pete Tong's podcast if you like dance music. Each podcast is about 40 minutes long.
