The semester is coming to an end and exams are almost here. We're having sunny spring weather and it's too nice outside to stay indoors.

I went with a couple of friends to play 21 on the basketball court. It's been a long time since I've practiced shooting [frankly, I need lots of practice] but we were having too much fun to really care. It almost felt like being in high school again.

exams!

How do you find time to study during exams? I'm in the middle of finals in law school and really struggling to keep up my workouts and my eating habits. I have grand plans for the summer though.

my perspective: the trick to exams

It's not about finding time to study; it's about increasing the quality of the time you do study.

Now is the best time to fuel yourself with healthy foods and get enough exercise. Now is too important of a time -- why wait till the summer? Think about it... exercise and healthy diet decreases stress. You might not even realize how big an impact it can make in your life. How many times have you noticed (either in yourself or others), that when people stress, they take twice as long (or more) to accomplish something and general performance suffers?

To me that hour and a half of playing a few relaxing rounds of 21 meant that I didn't have to study for nearly as long and when I did study -- I was more efficient and effective. Accomplishing something as seemly trivial as that boosted my confidence in myself in general especially considering how poor my basketball skills are. I also got to improve the quality of my relationships with my friends.

Making time for exercise, eating well and having fun meant that when I took my exams I didn't feel blah, tired, overwhelmed with information or apprehensive about poor performance. I was at my best... both mentally and physically.

I hope this helps.

nice observation

Well done! The work smarter by working on something else and feeling good about yourself theory is quite insightful. That's quite a valuable bit of wisdom you're tossing around so casually you should be careful with that ;).
