I knew it was out there!
I keep a regular blog, too, but I try not to bore my blog-readers with tales of how my fitness goals are going...particularly because no one else in my group of friends is particularly a fitness or exercise person. So a few days ago I was thinking it'd be cool if somewhere out there was a blog-like community...but fitness centered. It would have groups like Xanga's blogrings for support, and maybe even forums.
This is great!
Okay, so here's my story to kick it off. I was getting ready for my company's annual Christmas party last December. When I went to go put on the dress I thought I was going to wear... it didn't fit. Neither did my second choice, which I had worn just the previous holiday season. As I put on my third choice outfit I knew something just had to change.
My goal: for next year's Christmas party, I'm going to wear the dress I wore to my senior prom.
Subgoals that pertain to this goal:
- Wearing my prom dress means dropping all the weight I put on in college. That's a grand total of about 25-30 lbs. I was 170 lbs when I started. I'm already down to 157ish.
- I'd like to get my BMI down to "healthy" from borderline overweight/obese. I'm not really that big, but I'm curvy and muscled.
- I'd like to bring my percent body fat down, but I'm not entirely sure to what. Genetics have spoken, and what not...
So far, it's been going well. As I said, I've lost 12ish lbs. My jeans are fitting much looser as I've lost a couple belt loops off my waist (didn't measure circumferences at the start, so I don't have numbers). My endurance is higher than it was. But more importantly, I'm having a great time. I find myself looking forward to planning what sort of workout I'll be doing that night. I've joined a swim team, and I'm training right now with the goal of medaling in the KC Corporate Challenge. I take walks with coworkers over lunch -- I love the fresh air and lack of computers and fluorescent lighting as much as I like the health benefits.
I've been on a plateau for the last 2 or 3 weeks, so I'm looking for ways to kick it up a bit. Maybe this will help.
Good to be here!
