Exercise Steps
The plank is quite an easy exercise to do. Basically, you go into a standard push up position and hold it for as long as you can. (Go until you collapse).
Judge your performance based on time.

i really felt the burn after this exercise. i'll definitely be adding this one to my workouts.

This is an awesome exercise! I like how you based the performance on time. Body weight fluctuates too much to base it on weight.
alternate position
I like the plank much better done from the elbows, not the hands. Trying it as above I felt much more burn in my arms and strain on my neck/shoulders. From the more level position of toes and forearms, I feel a greater concentration in my abs and back. This may be something to try if upper body strength isn't your strong suit.

this one is supposed to be done on the forearms, its hard we had to do it for a minute in 35 degree c heat and after hours of running and other exercises for the camp i was at last year before we got food.
