Cognitive behavioral psychology and the myth about motivation
October 5, 2008 - 3:06am — Tanu288To put it concisely, cognitive behavioral psychology holds the belief that every emotion we feel is a direct result of the thoughts we think. Simple, right? But the implications of this theory are life-changing -- you are ENTIRELY in control of how you feel. Isn't that a comforting thought?

My journey of my 91 lb weight loss
August 12, 2008 - 1:15pm — Kimberh81My name is Kim and I am new to gimmie20, but not new to diet and weight struggles. I had been overweight my entire life and topped out at 226lbs! I was afraid my daughter was even embarassed of me and I had no energy to do anything which when your a single mom is no good! Anyway a professor of mine in nursing school saw my desire to want to learn how to eat healthy the right way, especially since I had a history of numerous failed diets. Anyway, he put me on a his 9th Law diet and I have now lost 91 pounds and feel fabulous. If I can do it anyone can!

One Week Wait - Gym Membership Starts November 1st
October 25, 2007 - 8:28am — AkasharaineI haven't been to the gym in a year and a half due to hyperthyroid which made the heart rate monitors on the elliptical trainers go banana's as soon I got on. I have finally gotten it under control through drugs which have made me, for lack of a more polite term, fat. So It's back to the gym for me.

What is Holistic Fitness
April 9, 2007 - 10:46pm — sbandrovskyThis is the first posting in this group. I would like to talk a bit about myself and about what exactly holistic fitness is. Now, I am not an M.D, nor do I have any special credentials or formal education in this field so whatever you read in this and other blogs is not professional advice.
That being out of the way, I can say that I am a person that searches for answers. Every day I try to better myself bit by bit. Fitness, both spiritual and physical is a very important part of my life. For the better part of my life I have been focusing on mostly my spiritual advancements, ignoring the physical part. As the years progressed I decided that in order to be a whole person I need to have a strong physical body to support my even stronger spirit. Hence my "crusade" for achievement of a certain balance began. As with every journey there comes a time when you really have to search for what is good for oneself. I delved into study of nutrition and various exercise routines. Now, by no means have I reached the desired goal yet, but I am on my way.
