Should I go to the gym?

recommendations

So I've got a problem. I am up in Whistler for the weekend (a ski resort), and I brought all my gym gear but FORGOT my running shoes. I can't go into the gym with ski boots or dress shoes so I am more or less screwed?

So I am facing a decision: Do I go out and buy a pair of runners at footlocker, leave them hear at the cabin for later usage? That is a pretty steep price for keeping up motivation.

The alternative is to work out here using the bench, do pushups, do situps, the plank and so forth. The problem is, when I have a TV in front of me I get nothing done. And, believe it or not, I can't turn it off.

So... I messeed up on this one. Staying motivated involves eliminating as many 'excuses' as you can.

I, forgot my shoes, and as such have introduced an 'excuse' into the equation.

I'll update this post in a couple hours and let you know if I bought the shoes or laid on the couch all night watching star trek re-runs.

OK. So I did it.

I got restless. I know that if I don't keep going to the gym on a regular basis I will break the pattern.

So I bought the shoes.

And I am impulsive and I have expensive taste. That is a bad combination.

I spent $100 on shoes so I could work out one night.

But here is the good news. I have gym shoes in each of the locations I frequent: Vancouver, Sacramento, and Whistler. Now I will never have a shoe excuse.

...if you can afford it - that's great. No excuses now. :) I don't have a problem with exercising in front of the tube. Sometimes - a good deal of the time - I just listen to the thing and glance when something catches my ear. Since I don't go to the gym, I have no clue of it's prices. Would it have been expensive for you to spend time at one while you're there? And can you go for a day or two without a membership? But having the shoes available is more readily accessible, don't you think?

I'm in the midst of writing out Christmas cards and watching NFL so I'll check in sometime tomorrow. I have no exercises scheduled for today - might do some stretching. I am scheduled for tomorrow, though. Can't wait for that functionality to report. :)

My best to you,

Judy

functionality to report?

Hey Judy -

Maybe there is some confusion:

1) You already have the ability to track workouts and report results for them. Let me know if you need any help getting this set up.

2) The functionality we are adding will allow group members to 'push' workouts into the groups. Ie. A six pack group might have a set of suggested workouts or exercises from the gimme20.com database.

Kind regards,

J

Could you explain....

...how viewing of my workout status works? I am allowing everyone to see my progress. How does it work? When someone comes to my page, what will they see? Will they see the calendars that show workouts that I've done (think it's green)? Each time I submit a workout completed, the specific day on the calendar turns green- do they see this? The reason I ask, is because whenever I visit someone else, I don't see a workout result. Do you have your workout results turned on? Perhaps seeing yours will give me an idea. You could let me know when yours is viewable and after I view it, you could turn it back off if you'd like.

I'm hoping that having mine turned on for all to view will motivate me to not skip a workout. It will be a definite incentive to have my results automatically viewable by everyone.

Let me know, ok? Thanks.

Judy

Hi Judy!

Maybe we are not making it clear enough.

By default, the only person who can see your fitness progress / weight reports is YOU. No one will see anything.

However, you can choose to either a) Share these results with everyone, or b) share them with a select group of people. When viewing your reports, you''ll see the menu to do this in the right sidebar.

We are collectively thinking of switching this to default to public as opposed to private.... What do you think?

Kind Regards,

Jordan

I know about the options in the right sidebar and have chosen to share with everyone. I wondering how it's shared. Say for instance you've chosen to share with everyone. How do I see yours?

Thanks for responding, Jordon.

If you log out and check out your profile... then you can see what others see.
I hope this helps :)
