Cognitive behavioral psychology and the myth about motivation

To put it concisely, cognitive behavioral psychology holds the belief that every emotion we feel is a direct result of the thoughts we think. Simple, right? But the implications of this theory are life-changing -- you are ENTIRELY in control of how you feel. Isn't that a comforting thought?

Getting fit while trying to get pregnant

Hi everyone!

I am 23, happily married to a wonderful man who's in the US Coast Guard, and we are currently trying to get pregnant. I am about 18 pounds over what I feel like I should be. I am 5'2' and about 138 pounds. I would love to get down to 120, that's my goal right now, hopefully one day I will be lower than that, but 120 is my goal right now.

My journey of my 91 lb weight loss

My name is Kim and I am new to gimmie20, but not new to diet and weight struggles. I had been overweight my entire life and topped out at 226lbs! I was afraid my daughter was even embarassed of me and I had no energy to do anything which when your a single mom is no good! Anyway a professor of mine in nursing school saw my desire to want to learn how to eat healthy the right way, especially since I had a history of numerous failed diets. Anyway, he put me on a his 9th Law diet and I have now lost 91 pounds and feel fabulous. If I can do it anyone can!

Still Making the Effort :)

I have decided, just today actually, that I will start going to the gym EVERY weekday after work :)

Unfortunately, I have no belief that I will actually go every day... but I figure if I tell myself that, the pattern will be set up so that I end up going more often than I do now.

Women Should Lift weight to burn more fat

The most common falsehood I hear even on these forums several times is that women do not want to lift weights because they thing they will get bulky. This is not possible, your women, you can't get bulky without the aid of pharmaceuticals. Lifting weight will tone the muscle but it will not make it big. The toned muscle will burn more fat.

I recently came across a great article from a mother of 4 that can explain it better than I can and has been down that road before.
