Working hard, hardly working?
Boy, here I am working hard, but things seem to hardly be working and that's getting frustrating. Here I am spending a lot of time in the gym, expecting results and seeing some strength gains, but no weight loss. Sure, I can skate slightly longer now than before (ok, that was when I could skate, still having tendonitis problems) and that's great, but I want to be svelte, good looking, not the fire plug that I am now.
People are still giving me strange looks on the treadmill, but I guess that's to be expected when you walk normally on one side and clunk on the other. But, I'm working hard. I've started the initiation part of the Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer which works you up to running 3 miles a day so that I can finish the NYC marathon next year. See, I started planning now since I'm slower than molasses in January when it comes to running, so I need all 12 months to work up to it. I know, I know, slow and steady wins the race (ok, not in this analogy, but who's counting?)
I'm still trying to figure out how to build up more endurance, generally which, I have none. Zip, zero, nada, zilch. I think I was born with all fast twitch fibers since I'm strong as an ox, but tire easily. So, if anyone out there in internet land has any tips on building endurance, I'd be interested in them. Please, help me, I don't want to die in Harlem. I can die in Central Park, just not Harlem.
