Sticking it out

Well, here I am gutting it out. Exercise is not fun right now while I'm wearing one of those big, ugly mid-calf walking support boots for a tendon problem caused by overzealous amounts of hockey. I seem to have injured my extensor hallucis tendon, for those of you familiar with skates, that would be A.K.A. Lace Bite. Don't ever skate 4 games in brand new skates!

I am proud of myself though for making it to the gym the last two nights. I've ended up on the recumbent bike and walking on the treadmill, along with some modified leg weights and my full upper body program. Hopefully I can make some upper body progress to cancel out the stalling out of my lower body.

I can't let myself be frustrated with this. It's just another hurdle to go over. I'm going to make it, I think, maybe I need a beer............. Hey, all the guys in sports that I know or see seem to think that a beer is necessary after any and all exercise. Play basketball, go for a beer, play hockey, drink in the locker room, baseball, softball, etc. They all come with beer. Can someone explain that phenomenon to me please? I just don't get it.

I am getting tired of eating every 8 hours just so I can take my ibuprofen, I feel like I"m defeating the purpose of exercising. I'm stuck getting up in the middle of the night and eating just to take a pill. I know that's not good for me, but I don't really have a choice otherwise my leg keeps me up all night. What's a girl to do? No, I can't stop eating because I have stomach issues from years of NSAID use.

Just wait, this injury is just the beginning. I haven't earned the nickname Accident Girl for nothing.........

Any helpful comments on how to heal my tendonitis faster would be greatly appreciated as I have to be back on the ice on Saturday (yes, I do mean 3 days from now!). Be safe, enjoy the gym, and if you see someone limping around with a stupid looking boot on, it's probably me. By the way, anyone got any cool stickers that I can decorate that ugly thing with?????????????
