Hi I just joined! Interested in meeting new ppl w/ the same interests
Hi everybody,
My name is Tracey. I just joined today. This seems like a pretty cool website. I am 22 years old, I just graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Kinesiology/ Exercise Science. I am currently in my first semester of a 3 year long program for Physical Therapy- Doctorate at the Univ. of RI. But I am considering taking a different path (dropping out sounds so negative). I love the human body, and helping people, which is what sparked my interest in the first place for the physical therapy profession, but I think I am more into fitness, health promotion, and nutrition, rather then rehabilitation. I have always wanted to be a personal trainer, but am considering other fields in the healthcare industry to help compensate. I live in Rhode Island, and our gyms don't even come close to the ones in California...or so I hear, I have never been there. I would be wiling to move to CA for my career. I might got to grad. school for nutrition or advanced exercise science. If anyone has any suggestions...I would love to hear from you.
My workout pattern: I run 5-6 days per week. I started running in highschool, and was actually the cross country team "slacker" I would be the clown purposefully bringing two right footed sneakers to practice to show my coach I couldn't practice that day! I would mud wrestle my friend DURING a cross country race. I realized that I just did not enjoy running for my coach, or for anyone else for that matter. I grew a love for and addiction to running. It's so amazing. It allows you to clear your head, think about life, and enjoy beautiful scenery. I appreciate every run I get. You can't really understand the whole addiction unless you're a runner. Aside from running, I love fitness in general and love learning new techniques. It's such an amazing and advancing field. I belong to a small private gym in Wakefield. I strength train there about 4-6 days a week. I tend to unknowingly motivate people to workout, which is great. Alot of people approach me saying they see me running alot which made them go ot for a run/walk. Anyways..I think that's enough about me for now. :)

West coast = best coast
Hey Tracey -
The west coast in general, is very health conscious. Whether you are talking about LA, the Bay Area, Seattle or Vancouver there is a HUGE market for personal trainers.
With this huge market however, there is lots of competition as well. Therefore, the ability to market yourself, network, and establish a good reputation is paramount.
Anyways -- welcome to the community! You'll find the forums are a good place to talk about specific subjects as while as meet 'like minded people'
Maybe you can even mud wrestle someone in there.
