I always hear how great peanut butter is for you, and I love it myself! But it can get quite fattening if you consume too much of it! I buy the reduced fat kind (which in turn has more carbs), but how much peanut butter is too much??

Actually if you can find a
Actually if you can find a natural peanut butter you are better off. Peanut butters like JIF and pretty much all other brands in the regular grocery store so on actually add the fat because this keeps the peanut oil and the butter from seperating. The natural kind though you will have to stir it up before use because the oils will be sitting on top. The oils themselves are good for you so you do not want to pour them off. They also do not keep as long I don't know off the top of my head the time I think it is 3 months. where the Jif kind will keep for a year. However any natural health foods store should have natural peanut butter.
Anyway how much is too much. Not really sure, I wouldn't eat it every meal but for a quick snack its not bad. One of the things i have done in the past for good portable protein snacks is to take like a soft taco shell spread a coating on peanut butter on one side and roll it up.
protein + fiber
Peanut butter has a bountiful supply of both protein and fiber. I usually will throw in a spoonful into my after-workout-smoothie.
You can get away with some
You can get away with some Peanut butter and still lose weight (some). I sometimes like too add a couple teaspoons to my protein drinks and blend it with some milk. The whole drink will taste like peanut butter so you feel like you are eating more peanut butter than you really are. Makes for a nice treat.
Just had some peanut butter
Just had some peanut butter last night with a banana- great stuff... I like to eat the Smart Balance peanut butter because it is not as heavily processed as the big brands. It also contains lots of Omega-3, like all smart balance does.
Vegetarian
You can use some peanut butter as a substitute for something you aren't crazy about. I don't eat meat so this is one way I get some extra protein throughout the day. I like having it with grapes or mixing it into meals.
