My name is Kim and I am new to gimmie20, but not new to diet and weight struggles. I had been overweight my entire life and topped out at 226lbs! I was afraid my daughter was even embarassed of me and I had no energy to do anything which when your a single mom is no good! Anyway a professor of mine in nursing school saw my desire to want to learn how to eat healthy the right way, especially since I had a history of numerous failed diets. Anyway, he put me on a his 9th Law diet and I have now lost 91 pounds and feel fabulous. If I can do it anyone can!

I really want to lose atleast 20 lbs. for the wedding. I have such a hard time getting the motivation to work out. Part of it is due to working third shift. And the other part is my kids dont let me. They will get in my way or bother me while I am doing a video or whatever. I have to do it though and i will!!!

I stumbled across this site while looking for widgets for my main blog. I'll keep this as my diet/fitness/weightloss blog. I decided to lose some weight after a trip to the doctor. There I discovered that my BMI was 32. For my height and such that's in the "overweight" category. Thankfully I don't have any health issues, so I decided to lose the weight and get a bit healthier about everything. My biggest challenge is that I don't eat enough. I used to eat only once or twice a day, so my body holds onto everything as if its starving. Currently, I'm eating a few small meals every few hours.

Where am I?

Great article by A.M.Sall:

1. What is my BMI and how do I calculate it?

BMI means Body Mass Index.
The value is associated with body fat and health risks.

Healthy weight is defined as a BMI equal to or greater
than 19 and less than 25 among all people aged 20
or over. Between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight;
more than 30 is considered obese.

To determine body mass index:
[Weight in pounds ÷ Height in inches ÷ Height in inches] x 703.

Fractions and ounces must be entered as decimal values.

The metric formula is: BMI= Body Weight(kg)/height(m)2.
Remember that: 2.2 lbs.=1 kg and 39.4 ins.=1m.
