I have finally come to the realization that I am fat because I succumb on a regular basis to two of the deadly sins, Gluttony and Sloth. If I can stop gorging myself, and get off my butt, I will have no problem getting into shape and getting heathier.

I am going to use Reinhard Engels' No-S Diet as outlined by Jennifer on her most excellent blog.

I have been working out now since November, 5 months. I can honestly say that the last two months of that time I have been putting in some serious effort working out 2 - 3 times per week, weight training and cardio, trying to eat healthily... but as I'm not seeing any results. I have gained about 8 pounds which I knew would happen as a result of "Body Pump" (Amazing Weight Training Class at Goodlife Fitness) but am not seeing or feeling any difference in size to go along with it. One pair of my pants is actually tighter!

A MUCH better day today than days past. First, my overall caloric intake was bumped up to 2250, and second, my protein intake was increased by 10%. On average, my ratio of protein to carbs for the week before today was 20%:47%. Today my ratio was 30% protein to 40% carbs.

I'm going to continue to keep my eye on this and make small adjustments and see what happens.

I squeezed in a workout during my lunchtime today, that way I didn't have to deal with it this evening at home since it is valentine's day.

My 350,000 pound Elephant!

Female Asiatic elephants have an average weight of 6,000 lb and males have an average weight of 12,000 lbs.

A circus elephant weighed 14,850 lbs.

African forest elephants weighs 6,000-13,000 lbs...

male African bush elephants weight 8,800-14,000 lbs and the female weighs 5,000-7,700 lb.

If one pound of body fat equals 3,500 calories and I need to lose 100 pounds...

then my "elephant" is that I must burn 350,000 calories to lose 100 pounds of body fat to reach my goal weight of 125 pounds or approximately 1/2 my body weight.

How big is YOUR elephant?

Well... new year, new plan.

So my plan is this:

I needed a detox after months of eating poorly, something to jump start my weight loss and better eating habits. I decided to go on the Special K diet. I started yesterday. For two weeks I'll be eating cereal for breakfast, raw fruit and veggies and cereal bars for snacks, and protein bars for lunch. You get to eat dinner as you normally would. This diet should be do-able for me because everything is packaged and ready to go, plus I'll still get normal food at the end of the day.

Water is without a doubt the building blocks of life. But, did you know water can be just the thing to cut those unwanted and unnecessary calories in your diet. Studies show that nearly 20% of our calorie intake per day comes from liquids. Coffees, carbonated drinks, energy drinks, etc are major culprits in people struggle against weight gain. I know for coffee drinkers this could be considered blasphemy but, cutting these drinks out can be the equivalent of a trip to the gym. Strictly on a calorie count basis. There are even more reasons to switch to water than calories.

I work third and all I wanna do is sleep. I have a three year old that is home with me. And a five year old in kindergarden. So I never get a solid sleep. Every time he tells me he is hungry I get up, and we end up snacking together. So it seems like I eat all the time, day and night. It can be healthy food as well as not. But , I must be takin in a good 3000-4000 cals a day. Its unbelievable how much I eat. I feel out of controll some times. And that is not my style. It is embarassing to me. I hide it from my fiance.
