3 Days Down, 1 To Go!
So, we made it a point this week to get out on Monday and Tuesday - take Wednesday as a light day - and finish on Thursday and Friday. So far so good! We have been running 2 miles each of those mornings and taking the afternoons to get out with the dog (although he has been running, too) or get on the bikes for a few miles.
I have felt great. Not only is it nice to get your workout done early but the temp outside is better and you get a nice early jumpstart to your day! I have not been as tired and finally do not feel that I have to eat the entire day!
Some rides just shouldn't happen!
Sometimes, you can just tell you shouldn't be riding. Sometimes you feel that you shouldn't but know you should. Sometimes you feel like riding and that is what you do. But sometimes, the ride tells you that it should not be happening.
Jenni, my dad and I (the core group so far of Evoke Cycling in Oklahoma City) went out to test the new Dam Road at Lake Hefner. We were planning on doing 3 or so laps (about 30 miles) and enjoy ourselves. Here is how the ride went:
-6 min 30 secs into the ride - Jenni flats out
Time to take a leap of faith.
I have finally come to the realization that I am fat because I succumb on a regular basis to two of the deadly sins, Gluttony and Sloth. If I can stop gorging myself, and get off my butt, I will have no problem getting into shape and getting heathier.
I am going to use Reinhard Engels' No-S Diet as outlined by Jennifer on her most excellent blog.
Men and Women, Differences In Routine
Though stereotypes are dissolving with each generation, there are some that persist - in part, because they are based on real differences between men and women.
While some women can and do achieve the upper body strength of some (even very fit) men, the overwhelming majority of males have a natural advantage in this area. Male aesthetic values, the source of which isn't clear, reinforce this and so they tend to work on upper body more than some other areas, relative to women's efforts.

Get Lean While You Sleep
Hi everyone, I'm John Spencer Ellis, CEO of National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association and a member of the Sleep Number Quality of Life Advisory Board. I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about the importance of sleep as it pertains to fitness, weight loss and overall wellness.
Without the right amount of quality sleep, you cannot fully recover from your exercise session and prepare for the next one or attain optimal body fat levels. And lack of sleep actually inhibits lean muscle - you need this to increase your metabolism.
