End of week 2

Well... perhaps I shouldn't have blogged in the middle of the week about how well it was going. The remainder of my week was weak at best. Too many social events at work combined with deadlines caused me not to eat as well as I would have liked nor get my workouts in. Notice the shift in blame there. ;-)

Almost midway through Week 2

Tomorrow will actually be the mid-way point, but my next workout isn't until Thursday.

Today was a really good workout. My lunch time workout was average, but I forgot I had promised my oldest son that he could go to the gym with me tonight so that gave me another opportunity to get more time in. So, I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical machine while the boy played in the "Adventure Zone."

Summary of first week

First week is now in the books and in summary, I feel it was a successful week. Total weight loss for the week was 2.2 lbs and I'm definitely feeling better. I was able to reach my goal of working out 3 times this past week. I've been paying close attention to what goes in my mouth, and even though there was at least one day this past week where things didn't quite go as planned, I didn't beat myself up about it. Instead, I kept my eye focused on the week as a whole.

A better day

A MUCH better day today than days past. First, my overall caloric intake was bumped up to 2250, and second, my protein intake was increased by 10%. On average, my ratio of protein to carbs for the week before today was 20%:47%. Today my ratio was 30% protein to 40% carbs.

I'm going to continue to keep my eye on this and make small adjustments and see what happens.

I squeezed in a workout during my lunchtime today, that way I didn't have to deal with it this evening at home since it is valentine's day.

Daily Update

After starting out Sunday with a great workout (for me at least, having not really exercised in such a long time) Monday was a train wreck. My Mgr welcomed a co-worker to the company with a box of Costco cookies. I resisted as long as I could, but they beat me... and beat me badly! My calorie count for yesterday was at least 600 calories over my 1934 set limit.

The Start

OK... time for my next goal to be realized -- to become fit once again. I can't say that I've really been fit since I exited the Army almost 18 years ago to the day.

The goal is to do this in a way that it sticks this time... a lifestyle change will you. Start out slow and easy, but be consistent.

Hopefully tracking it all here will assist me with my goal.
