Day 5 - May 18, 2007

Weight: 209
Body Fat: 22%

Whew!! No longer sick, and my hand feels much better. I added a pound which is weird, but I guess your body does weird things when you don't feed it properly, but I'm not concerned - like I said my goal is to be healthy, the weight loss will be nice, but I'm not focusing on that, so the variances don't get me down.

Anyhow, I probably won't add to this blog over the weekend, I still plan to follow my routine with either Saturday or Sunday being my "Free Day". But I won't post about them until Monday. What's a "Free Day"? Well, I've done a lot of reading up until I finally got started with this and there is a lot of evidence to suggest that you take one day out of the week to eat whatever and as much as you want. This type of behavior sort of shocks your body and somehow helps. I'm not sure of the intricat details, but there are a lot of people like me who have done this already, along with professionals that strongly suggest this, so I'll see.

Day 4 - May 17, 2007

Weight: N/A
Body Fat: N/A

NOTE: This is being entered late because this week has been crazy... Today was a "Sick Day" for me, not sure what it was. To add insult to injury I smashed my right hand the night before while working in the yard... Needless to say I did not weigh myself this day, and I also did not eat much of anything so check back tomorrow.

Day 3 - May 16, 2007

Weight: 208
Body Fat: 24%

NOTE: This is being entered late because this week has been crazy... Today feels a lot better than yesterday, and I finally found some "Muscle Milk" that tastes a lot better than any other protein-based supplement I've used so far.

My meals even though they aren't growing in size are making me feel more and more filled up each time, I guess my stomach is probably shrinking and getting used to the smaller and more healthy amounts of food I've been giving it. I also picked up some Fish Oil supplements that I plan to begin taking today as well. I figured I woul

Day 2 - May 15, 2007

Weight: 209
Body Fat: 25%

The numbers above probably look a little off from yesterday's entries, at least the body fat %. This is more what I expected, I thought 19% was a little low. I'm not sure what happened, I used the same scale as yesterday, I'll just have to see how often it changes. :)

Well, I ate a total of 1290 calories yesterday, and I felt really weird... I've always had a relatively fast metabolism but damn, I didn't expect to feel like that. It was sort of a mix of feeling hyper or anxious with the added effect of feeling physically exhausted all at the same time - keep in mind that in addition normally eating 2100 - 2300 calories a day in the past, I also ate a lot of crap. Yesterday I ate all healthy stuff and I think the feelings I had must be related to the detoxifying effect that my body must be going through as it adjusts.

Day 1 - May 14, 2007

Weight: 212
Body Fat: 19%

Ok, I started today!! I don't feel much different, but then again it is only the first day. There was a lot fo stuff that actually led up to today, so I'll start with all of that first...

First, I bought a scale to help me track my progress, after some looking around I ended up with a Tanita BF683W (http://www.tanita.com/BodyFat_BodyWater.shtml). I figured I would weigh myself every morning when I got up before I did anything else - the goal of this "life change" is not so much to loose weight as it is to simply get healthy but tracking your weight is always a good thing to do regardless.

Time to get busy...

It's been a long time since I felt "healthy". I wouldn't consider myself extremely over-weight (I'm 6' and 220lbs), but I would consider myself extremely out of shape. There was a time in my life where exercise was part of my regular daily routine. I've probably never really eaten "right" so that aspect is new, but here's what my long term goals are...

1. Get physically fit - I want to get back to the point of doing some form of regular exercise on a daily basis and actually feel weird or like something's missing on the days when I DON'T exercise. I've done it before, so I know I can do it again, but getting over the hump of starting all over is always a tough thing to do. MY inspiration for getting over this hump is http://www.rosstraining.com.
